Every Year, Every Ending

He gave a long slow sigh
And the wind began to shiver
Those long scarred fingers
Traced the cold uneven wall
The moon dared not breath out
Unseeing eyes saw far
Beyond the confines of a room
Rain ceased to drop
Crooked though it was
A smile made a home on his lips
The forest made not a whisper
Yet the news had spread
Something would make him leave
The only place called home
